Welcome to ALAMOFIRE PUBLISHING! I have often heard it said that Texans have a distinctive way with words when it comes to telling a story that is not readily found anywhere else in the world. One only has to look at the works of Larry McMurtry (Lonesome Dove), Gene Roddenberry (Star Trek creator), J. Frank Dobie (folklorist) or Kris Kristofferson (songwriter), to name just a few, to know that this is true!
Coming from a long line of Texan “story-tellers,” I love to tell a story—read a story—hear a story! Telling a story comes as naturally and surely to me as swimming to a swan. However, it has been my observation that many others have a story to tell and yet their voice remains silent. Why? I’m told by those silent voices that they don’t feel that they are “creative” or are too intimidated by what others will think and worry that their story isn’t “good” enough. The roots of this seem to begin at a very young age and as a result, the voices of many a future McMurtry or Kristofferson never see morning light.
At Alamofire, we: · believe that everyone is creative (whether you know it or not!) · believe that it is more natural to be creative than not be creative · encourage and promote creativity in children of all ages · promote a love of reading · encourage writing for the sheer joy of writing
It’s never too late to let your voice be heard! “See” you round the campfire! |
