After a well needed Spring Break respite, we’ll continue exploring the question of immortality with Mr. Morrison’s third grade class.
At our last reading, Winnie had been kidnapped by the Tuck family who shared with her the terrible secret of the spring in the Foster’s woods. At first, Winnie does not know whether to believe them or not. Unfortunately, the man in the yellow suit followed them and heard the Tuck’s tell Winnie the secret of the spring. He had no trouble believing the story to be true and he stole the Tuck’s horse and rode all night to reach Winnie’s parents. He told them that he saw who took Winnie and knew where they were keeping her. Instead of telling them how to find Winnie, he blackmailed them!!! The price for the information to Winnie’s whereabouts —the deed to the Foster’s woods!! Yes, the very same woods containing the spring of immortality!!! What does the man in the yellow hat want with the spring? We’ll find out this week! |

What if you could live forever? What if there were a magic spring and anyone who drank from it stopped aging and never grew older? What if you knew the secret of the spring? Would you tell? Would you drink? Would you want to live forever? The 3rd grade students of Doss Elementary continue to explore the question of immortality in “Tuck Everlasting” by Natalie Babbit. |
